Business Wodonga has prepared a Regional Infrastructure Project Register comparing major Victorian Government infrastructure projects completed, opened, made operational or firmly committed across North East Victoria, Ballarat, Bendigo, Shepparton and Geelong between 2016–17 and 2025–26.
The register brings together publicly available project information and source links to compare the scale of state-backed investment across regional communities, including health, education, transport, housing, justice, culture, sport, emergency services and community infrastructure.
Using a conservative methodology, the register counts major identifiable project commitments and published project values, while excluding Commonwealth, council, private and philanthropic contributions where they can be separated. It is designed to support informed discussion about regional investment patterns and how North East Victoria compares with other major Victorian regional centres.
The analysis identifies 17 major project lines for North East Victoria, with a total counted value of $512.267 million. By comparison, the register identifies $1.166 billion in Ballarat, $1.123 billion in Bendigo, at least $717.642 million in Shepparton and at least $1.807 billion in Geelong.
This resource is intended to provide a transparent evidence base for advocacy, policy discussion and community understanding of regional infrastructure investment.
